Christian or Follower of The Way?
I’m not a “Christian” trying to fix Christianity. This teaching breaks down the difference between cultural Christianity and truly being a follower of The Way—exposing the lie in the label and calling the remnant back to the narrow path YAHUSHA walked.
Christian or Follower of The Way?
I’m not a “Christian” trying to fix Christianity. I’m a follower of The Way exposing where the label has lied to us.
In our culture, “Christian” usually means:
- Goes to church sometimes
- Believes in “God” in a general, vague way
- Tries to be a “good person” by society’s standards
It’s become a category, not a covenant.
But in Scripture, the early believers were not running around building a religious brand. They were known as:
Followers of The Way
They weren’t selling a religion. They were walking a path—a narrow, costly road that set them apart from the world and from dead religion.
The Way in Scripture
Before “Christian” ever became common, the Word talks about:
- Sha’ul seeking to bind “any of this Way” (Acts 9:2)
- Some hardening their hearts and speaking evil of “The Way” (Acts 19:9)
- A major disturbance arising “about The Way” (Acts 19:23)
- Paul being accused as a leader of the sect of the Nazarenes and confessing he worships according to The Way (Acts 24:14, 22)
Why “The Way”?
Because YAHUSHA said:
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…” (Yochanan/John 14:6)
To follow Him was never about signing up to a Romanized religion. It was about entering His Way:
- His obedience to the Father
- His suffering, His humility, His holiness
- His Kingdom, not man’s system
They weren’t just believing in a story about Him. They were walking like Him.
What “Christian” Was… and What It Became
The word “Christian” appears only three times in the Renewed Covenant:
- “The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” (Acts 11:26)
- Agrippa: “Almost you persuade me to be a Christian.” (Acts 26:28)
- “If any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed…” (1 Kepha/1 Peter 4:16)
Notice:
- “Were called Christians” – it starts as a label from outsiders, not necessarily what they called themselves.
- It’s tied to public identity and persecution, not comfort and culture.
- Kepha links it directly to suffering, not social acceptance.
Originally, if someone called you “Christian,” it meant:
- You belonged to the Anointed One
- You were willing to suffer for that allegiance
But over centuries, something changed.
- Rome institutionalized the faith.
- Empire merged power, politics, and religion.
- “Christian” became a state identity, a majority label, a tool of empire.
Today, “Christian” can mean:
- Religious but unrepentant
- Familiar with church, hostile to obedience
- In love with the idea of “Jesus,” but offended by the commands of YAHUSHA
You can be called “Christian” by everybody around you and still be nowhere near The Way.
That’s the lie I’m here to expose.
What It Actually Means to Walk in The Way
I don’t reject the label “Christian” just to sound deep. I reject the counterfeit system that kept the label and lost the lifestyle.
Being a follower of The Way looks like:
- Repentance – turning from sin and dead religion, not just feeling guilty
- Surrender – YAHUAH’s will over my will, even when it hurts
- Obedience – honoring YAHUAH’s commands through YAHUSHA, not cherry-picking verses that fit my comfort
- Walking in the RUACH HAQODESH – led by the Sacred Breath, not by flesh, trends, or church politics
- Loving truth over comfort – choosing Scripture over tradition, even if it costs relationships or reputation
The Way is:
- Narrow when culture wants wide
- Holy when culture wants “do you”
- Costly when religion wants convenience
This isn’t about playing word games:
“I’m not Christian, I’m something else.”
No.
This is about exposing the disconnect:
- A world full of “Christians”
- And very few people actually walking in the footsteps of YAHUSHA
Labels vs. Lifestyle
The enemy loves empty names:
- “Christian” with no fruit
- “Saved” with no transformation
- “Anointed” with no obedience
You can:
- Wear crosses
- Post Bible quotes
- Sit in church weekly
…and still refuse to carry your cross or follow The Way.
YAHUSHA didn’t say:
“You will be known by your religious label.”
He said:
“You will know them by their fruits.” (Mattithyahu/Matthew 7:16)
So I’m not asking:
“Do you call yourself a Christian?”
I’m asking:
“Does your life prove you’re on The Way?”
How to Test Yourself
Let these questions cut through the label:
- Do I obey His Word when it collides with my lifestyle, or do I explain it away?
- Is my faith a culture I grew up in, or a covenant I surrendered to?
- Do I follow the voice of YAHUSHA, or just the habits of my church and family?
- If they outlawed true faith tomorrow, would there be clear evidence I belong to YAHUSHA and not to the system?
The remnant isn’t chasing titles. We’re chasing His footsteps.
Our Language Here
On this platform, I’m not here to prop up a broken brand. You’ll see language like:
- Believers
- Set-apart ones
- Remnant
- Followers of The Way
I’m not running from the word “Christian” to sound edgy. I’m refusing to let the watered-down, Romanized, cultural version claim ownership over those who truly follow YAHUSHA.
If by “Christian” you mean:
- Surrendered to YAHUAH
- Washed by the blood of YAHUSHA
- Walking in obedience and set-apart living
—then the fruit will show, whether you use the word or not.
But if “Christian” for you just means:
- “Not atheist”
- “Raised in church”
- “Better than the next person”
then that label is a lie, and it’s time to drop it and step into The Way.
Because in the end, YAHUSHA is not checking:
“Did they call you Christian?”
He’s looking at:
“Did you walk in My Way?”
“Did you do the will of My Father?”
“Did I know you?”
I’m not here to polish the label. I’m here to call you back to The Way.
