Identity Crisis: Who Is Israel Today?

The word “Israel” has been reduced to politics.

But Scripture defines Israel through covenant.

Israel is not merely a modern state. Israel is a covenant people.

What Does the Name Mean?

Israel means “one who prevails with Elohim.” It began with Ya’aqov.

“Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel…”
— Bereshith (Genesis) 32:28

Israel was never just geography. It was transformation through struggle and submission.

The Covenant Framework

YAHUAH made covenant with Abraham, Yitschaq, and Ya’aqov.

“I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you…”
— Bereshith (Genesis) 17:7

This covenant included promise, instruction, and inheritance.

Later, the northern and southern kingdoms were scattered. But Scripture repeatedly speaks of restoration.

Grafted In

The Renewed Covenant writings clarify something powerful:

“If some of the branches be broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in…”
— Romans 11:17

Grafting does not create a new tree. It joins you to an existing one.

Through YAHUSHA Ha’Mashiach, believers are brought into covenant alignment.

This does not erase identity. It restores covenant.

Replacement or Restoration?

Replacement theology says the church replaced Israel. Scripture says restoration.

“And so all Israel shall be saved…”
— Romans 11:26

YAHUAH does not abandon covenant.

Identity is not about supremacy. It is about submission.

When you walk in Torah through the RUACH, when you align with Messiah, when you keep covenant— you step into the story.
