The Slave Bible: When They Edited the Word to Control Our People
Yes, there really was a “Slave Bible.” No, it wasn’t a conspiracy theory. It was printed history.
Its full title was:
Parts of the Holy Bible, selected for the use of the Negro Slaves, in the British West-India Islands.
Published in 1807 in London, it was used by missionaries and planters in the Caribbean to “teach” enslaved Africans the Bible—after cutting out the parts They didn’t want us to see.
What They Did to the Word
The Slave Bible wasn’t a new translation. It was massive redaction:
- Most of the Old Testament was gone
- Key stories about deliverance from slavery (like Exodus) were removed
- Verses that could inspire hope, resistance, or dignity were cut
- Passages teaching obedience to masters were kept and emphasized
So you had:
- Ephesians 6:5 – “Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters…”
- But no Exodus 3–14, no “Let My people go,” no deliverance narrative.
They tried to give us a Bible without liberation—only submission.
Why This Matters
This shows: (Related: How Empire Repackaged the Gospel: From The Way to State Religion.) (Related: How Empire Repackaged the Gospel: From The Way to State Religion.)
- They knew the real Bible is dangerous to oppression.
- They were willing to mutilate Scripture to keep power.
- Our people were discipled into a version of “Christianity” that served the plantation.
YAHUAH’s Heart Was Never With the Slave Master
When you read the full Word, not the Slave Bible version, you see:
- Exodus – YAHUAH hears the cry of the enslaved and breaks their chains.
- The Prophets – Constant judgment on nations for oppressing the poor and shedding innocent blood.
- Luke 4 – YAHUSHA declares His mission:
The Slave Bible tried to hide this. Heaven never did.
Why You Need to Know This History
Because some of what people call “Christianity” today is still shaped by:
- The same power structures
- The same selective reading of Scripture
- The same fear of oppressed people actually reading the full Word and waking up
When you understand the Slave Bible, you understand why:
- Some churches avoid certain topics
- Some preachers never touch justice, oppression, or systems
- Some believers feel an instinctive distrust of “the Bible” as a tool of control
The problem wasn’t the true Word of YAHUAH. The problem was what They did to it.
Where to Study This Yourself
You don’t have to take my word for it. Go look:
- Museum of the Bible – “Slave Bible” Exhibit – They’ve displayed one of the surviving copies and explain its origins and edits.
- “Parts of the Holy Bible, selected for the use of the Negro Slaves…” (1807) – Look this title up in digital archives and library catalogs.
- History.com – articles on the Slave Bible and how passages about freedom were removed.
- Smithsonian Magazine – coverage on how this Bible cut out texts that could encourage uprisings.
- Wikipedia – search: “Select Parts of the Holy Bible for the use of the Negro Slaves in the British West-India Islands” for a summary and references.
Read. Verify. Then ask:
“If They edited Scripture to control us before, where are they still trying to do it now?”
Final Word
The Slave Bible is proof:
- The enemy fears a people who read the whole Word
- They fear a people who know YAHUAH stands against oppression
- They fear a people who realize the Bible is a liberation document, not a plantation manual
So read all of it. Study deep. And never again let anyone hand you a “safe” version of YAHUAH’s Word.
